Launching with X (Twitter)

Schedule X (Twitter) posts with AI

Postnavo is launching with X scheduling: single posts and full threads from one calendar, written by you or drafted by your AI agent. X’s create-post call takes one post at a time and has no scheduled time, so the scheduler does the waiting.

Formats at launch

  • Posts
  • Threads
  • Images
  • GIFs

280 characters for standard accounts; links count as 23 and emoji as 2. Check your post length

At launch, Postnavo will

  • split a long draft into a numbered thread and publish each post in order at the scheduled time
  • queue posts into recurring time slots, so a week can be planned in one sitting
  • count a draft the way X does, links as 23 characters included
  • let ChatGPT, Claude, OpenClaw or Navo turn a blog post into a thread and put it in your calendar

What X allows a scheduler to do

X rules for scheduled posts
RuleWhat X documents
Account and access With OAuth 2.0, posting takes a user token with the tweet.read, tweet.write and users.read scopes.2
Post text 280 characters, weighted: Latin letters and punctuation count 1, emoji and Chinese, Japanese and Korean glyphs count 2, and every link counts 23 whatever its length.1
Longer posts X Premium subscribers can write up to 25,000 characters. X says longer posts cannot yet be scheduled.910
Media in one post Up to 4 photos, or 1 animated GIF, or 1 video. Images up to 5 MB, GIFs up to 15 MB, video from half a second to 20 minutes and 8 GB (125 minutes and 16 GB for Premium or verified accounts).25
Alt text 1,000 characters for an image description.6 Alt Text Character Limits for Every Social Network
X’s own scheduler X Pro schedules posts for each account it manages, and the Composer in an X Ads account schedules a post for a date and time. Neither page says how far ahead.78 How Far Ahead Can You Schedule Posts on Each Network?
Published limits Creating posts through the API: 100 requests per 15 minutes for one user and 10,000 per 24 hours for one app.3
What X charges an app The API is pay-per-usage: $0.015 for each post created and $0.20 for a post that contains a link, on X’s pricing page, which says prices can change.4
AI and bot labels The create call has a made_with_ai field that discloses AI-generated media. An account run as a bot must say so, and who is responsible for it.213

What the X API lets a scheduler publish

One endpoint creates a post. It takes text, up to four photos or one GIF or one video, a poll of two to four options (each 1 to 25 characters, open from 5 minutes to 7 days), a setting for who may reply and a community to post into.

The create-post call has no field for a future time, so a scheduler that uses it stores the post and sends it when its time comes. X’s Ads API, a separate product, has a scheduled-posts endpoint for X Ads accounts.

Rate limits, and what a post costs

X publishes two limits for creating posts: 100 requests per 15 minutes for each user and 10,000 per 24 hours for each app. Media uploads have their own.

Rate limits and billing are separate. The API has no subscriptions: an app buys credits, and X’s pricing page lists $0.015 for a post and $0.20 for a post with a link.

What it cannot do

Quote posts through the API require an Enterprise plan and are not available on pay-per-use access. Longer posts are the other gap: X’s own pages say a longer post cannot yet be scheduled, and cannot be saved as a draft on the web.

Media limits follow the person posting, not the tool. A video that uploaded without an error can still be refused when it is attached, because duration and size are checked again against that account’s Premium or verified status.

X’s automation rules

Automated posts are allowed when they go through the API, including posts built from an outside source such as an RSS feed. X does not allow duplicative or substantially similar posts on one account or across accounts you operate, automated posts about trending topics, or automated replies and mentions to people who did not ask for them. An AI reply bot needs X’s written approval first, and scripting the website instead of using the API can end in permanent suspension.

An app may act for you only after it has described its automated actions and you have given express consent. X holds the account owner responsible for what a connected app does, and access can be revoked at any time under Apps and sessions.

How a thread is published

X’s help centre describes a thread as a series of connected posts from one person. The API has no thread object. The create call publishes one post and has a reply field that names the post it answers, so a thread goes out as a chain: the first post, then each next one as a reply to the post before it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I schedule X threads?

Postnavo is launching with thread scheduling for X: you write the whole thread once and each post goes out in order at the scheduled time. X’s create-post call publishes one post at a time, so a thread is sent as a chain of replies.

How will my AI agent post to X through Postnavo?

Once Postnavo launches, you connect ChatGPT, Claude, OpenClaw or any MCP-compatible agent and ask for a post or a thread in plain words. The agent drafts and schedules through Postnavo, which publishes through X’s API, and with approvals on nothing goes out before you have read it.

Does X limit how often an app can post?

It does. X’s rate-limit table gives the create-post call 100 requests per 15 minutes for one user and 10,000 per 24 hours for one app, and media uploads are counted apart.

Is it against X’s rules to schedule or automate posts?

No, within its automation rules. X allows automated posts through its API, including posts built from an RSS feed, and forbids duplicative posts across accounts, automated posts about trending topics and unsolicited automated replies.

Can a longer X post be scheduled?

X Premium subscribers can write up to 25,000 characters, but X’s help centre says longer posts cannot yet be scheduled. A standard post is 280 characters.
